James Fassett Collection, Jan 1, 1949 - Dec 31, 1967

James Fassett (1904-1986) was Director of Music at CBS and the "voice" of the New York Philharmonic, announcing the Orchestra's weekly radio broadcasts from 1949 to 1967. This collection of tapes comprises Fassett's personal collection which was acquired by the Philharmonic Archives shortly after his death. It includes 212 separate reels of concert broadcasts, intermission features, and field recordings made by Fassett over his career. These recordings were digitized through a Recordings at Risk grant from the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) and are available for research.
