Notes
Musicians from the New York Philharmonic and the Westminster Choir (Robert Carwithen, director and organist) performed Mendelssohn's "Elijah" oratorio for the American Bible Society's fifth annual benefit concert. Conductor Lukas Foss cut "several" of the choruses; timing was not recorded, though the NYTimes reviewer states that Foss's tempi were "probably just a shade faster than normal at any point in the score." Review names solo arias in English, but does not specify if the performance was in German or in English.

Robert Carwithen, Westminster Choir director, played the organ.

Full list of solo vocal parts, with performer in parentheses:

Soprano (Pauline Tinsley)
Mezzo-Soprano (Joy Davidson)
Tenor (George Shirley)
Bass-Baritone (Tom Krause)
Mezzo-Soprano (unknown)
Boy Soprano (unknown)
