- Stadium Concerts for the 43rd and 44th Seasons - Minnie Guggenheimer's French Poodle, Tinker, not allowed at stadium - Stokowski stops Stadium Concert five times due to numerous plane take-offs - Stadium Concerts holds a camera contest night at Lewisohn Stadium - Zubin Mehta's Stadium debut - Publication dated 28 May 1961 from General Feature Corporation advertising Stadium Concerts - Strauss's "Rosenkavalier" in concert form - American Ballet Theatre performs at the Stadium featuring soloists Maria Tallchief and Erik Bruhn - Julius Rudel conducts on 16 Jul 1961, featuring soloists Leesa Foster and William Warfield who will perform excerpts of "Porgy and Bess." Jean-Leon Destine and his dance company will also perform traditional Haitian dances - Lily Pons and Richard Verreau perform at French Opera Night - Alfredo Antonini receives a Commemorative Citaion on Italian Night from the New York City Committee for the Italian Centennial in recognition of his participation in the program marking the 100th anniversary of Italy's unification - Soprano Camilla Williams, the first black soprano to join a major opera company, performs as Madame Butterfly at Lewisohn Stadium - Pianist Van Cliburn performs a concert of Rachmaninoff music to an audience of more than 20,000 in Lewissohn Stadium
