Letter of January 18 1943 from Artur Rodzinski (AR) to Orchestra Manager Arthur Judson (AJ) regarding specific changes in New York Philharmonic orchestra personnel, replacing 14 of them, most importantly the firing of concertmaster Mishel Piastro, and support for his request from Arturo Toscanini and Bruno Walter; AJ on question of pensions for fired orchestra musicians (Jan 1943); AR on assistance from lawyer Robert Rockmore on AR contract with Philharmonic Symphony and suit against AR by violist Calmen Fleisig (Mar 1943); AJ on question of who is responsible for paying Rockmore for work on suit, AR or the Society, with reply from AR (April 1943); AR proposal to present Handel's "Messiah" in collaboration with the Oratorio Society (May 1943); AR proposal for summer music school and summer music festival in collaboration with Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey; AJ on proposal to reinstate some orchestra musicians, including Socrate Barozzi (June 1943); AJ statement that changes in the orchestra can only be initiated by the Music Director with the approval of the Board of Directors (June 1943); engagement of Oscar Levant as soloist (June 1943); AJ to AR on membership of musicians in The Lotos Club, "principal music Club of this country" (Nov 1943); appearance with the orchestra of pianist Robert Casadesus (Nov 1943)
