Blose; Juan Martinez and Antonita; the Cantonese Dragon Dancers (not listed in program); and several dancers and drummers in a dance drama "Jungle Africa" directed by Momodu Johnson and Lawrence Deas - Picketers representing the Spanish Confederated Societies to Aid Spain protest at Stadium concert on 29 Jun 1938; Pamphlet that they distributed, claiming "Iturbi is a fascist" - Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf, Crown Princess Louise of Sweden, and Prince Bertil attend concert on July 19 - Profile on Gershwin - Theremin replaces the English horn in Sibelius' "Swan of Tuonela" performed by Lucie Rosen - Alexander Smallens conducts performance of "Carmen" featuring Bruno Castagna as Carmen, Gloria Ware as Micaela, and Armand Tokatyan as Jose - Paul Whiteman conducts an all-Gershwin program presented on the first anniversary of the composer's death; Whiteman also conducts a joint-concert with Howard Barlow over WABC - American conducting debut of Massimo Freccia - Antonia Brico is the first woman to conduct the Philharmonic - New York Musicians' Union Local #802 sponsor "American Composers Night" at Lewisohn Stadium
