Abstract
Untranslated letter in German from Hans Schnellar to Gustav Mahler concerning a pair of timpani made by Schnellar for the New York Philharmonic and transport to New York. Letter from Ronald Carlisle to Richard Wandel, Assistant Archivist of the Philharmonic, inquiring about the type and fate of the timpani made for Mahler and sent to the Philharmonic. Apparently a set of timpani was donated to the scrap drive during World War II. Carlisle was researching for an article he was writing on Schnellar and his drums.
