Field, future President of the Philharmonic, is named to the board of directors - In Musical Courier, major musical managers discuss the present and future status of the concert business - Carnegie Hall is saved by two bills signed by Governor Nelson Rockefeller and is purchased by the City of New York after campaign in newspapers to save it from demolition - NYP opens its 118th season after returning from tour of seventeen coutries with fifty concerts in twenty-nine cities conducted by Leonard Bernstein and Thomas Schippers
