- 22nd Season of Lewisohn Stadium Concerts featuring the New York Philhamonic-Symphony Orchestra - Conductors include Barbirolli, Damrosch, Reiner, Kurtz, O'Connell, Smallens, Kostelanetz, Hilsberg, Leinsdorf, Weissmann, van Hoogstraten, Freccia - Soloists include Rubinstein, Heifetz, Spalding, Hofmann, Pons, Virovai - Stadium Concerts season expands to 10 weeks to accomodate World's Fair attendees - Walter Damrosch and Albert Spalding to plays opening Stadium Concert - Discount tickets offered for members of 178 business and professional firms - Mayor Fiorello La Guardia conducts national anthem at opening night at the Stadium - Violinist Albert Spalding appears at opening Stadium concert for fifth time - Walter Damrosch conducts at Lewisohn Stadium for the first time - Massimo Freccia conducts for two weeks at Lewisohn Stadium - Pianist Josef Hofmann plays Beethoven's "Emperor" Concerto at Lewisohn Stadium to large crowd followed by a series of encores - Verdi's Aida with Rosa Tentoni played at Lewisohn Stadium
