LaGuardia - Toscanini continues Beethoven cycle - Hans Lange returns to conduct the orchestra while Toscanini takes a brief vacation - Guiomar Novaes, Hulda Lashanska, and Vladimir Horowitz appear as soloists - Philharmonic Fund Rally is organized for February - First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt, broadcasts an appeal to her fellow radio audience members to help raise the \$500,000 needed for the Philharmonic deficit fund - Children attending Young People's Concerts are encouraged to contribute pennies and other change toward saving the Philharmonic - Gregor Piatigorsky and Myra Hess are soloists for concerts conducted by Hans Lange - Ernest Schelling presents prizes to children for best concert notebooks - Fund drive planned for Toscanini's birthday - Jose Iturbi is soloist on two Mozart concertos
