Bruno Walter conducted the premiere of Symphony No. 2 in Amsterdam in October 1934. For the New York performance, Walter suggested that the title be changed which Weill reluctantly agreed to. (from< Bruno Walter: A World Elsewhere> by Ryding and Pachefsky)
