Abstract
Lengthy letter in German from Gustav Mahler to Richard Arnold concerning among other things: the filling of open flutist and timpanist positions, the engagement of Theodore Spiering as Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic, arrangements for Spiering's travel from Bremen, Germany and Mahler's from Cherbourg, France to New York on the steamship Kaiser Wilhelm II, and a list of other potential soloists, including Ferrucio Busoni and Maud Powell; includes translation by Zoltan Roman from "Gustav Mahler's American Years 1907-1911" pp. 262-5
