  • Dr. Dvorak's manuscript score was delivered to the Philharmonic's librarian less than four weeks before the first performance. These hand-copied parts which were used by the Orchestra for the next 40 years reflect multiple conductors and interpretations in addition to those made by the composer and conductor Anton Seidl at the first performance in 1893. At the early rehearsals, Dvorak and Anton Seidl added notes, changed tempi and tweaked dynamics while the musicians recorded the changes in their parts. Some original parts were lost or simply wore out due to the popularity of the work.
